The Music Loft
Am I too old to learn to play an instrument?
No, you are never too old to learn something new. If you have the time and patience you can do almost anything at any age.
What is the youngest you accept?
If the child can count to four and knows the alphabet to the letter "G" and has a 20 minute attention span chances are he/she will be able to learn an instrument. If you feel your child is ready we can give it a go, and if in a month time if things are going well we forge on. If not we suggest you pull them out and try back at a later date.
How soon till I can play a real song?
It is totally up to each individual case. If you practice enough you will be playing "Real" songs in no time. If you never practice it just won't happen.
Do I need to be able to read music?
Reading music is easier than you think! If you don't know how to read already we'll teach you. In order to become accomplished the understanding of music is very important.
Do I need my own instrument?
Either you need to rent or own one. Most of the actual work is done at home PRACTICING. We give you things to play and it is up to you to work on them.
What method of teaching do you use?
We do not have any set method. We create a program based on individual needs. We do believe in some of the older methods which teach note reading and theory, while mixing it with some very modern techniques.
Do you have advanced lessons as well as beginner and intermediate?
Yes, we can provide quality instruction at all skill levels.
How much do private lessons cost?
Our fee is $20.00 per 1/2 hour lesson paid monthly in advance. Lesson fees are due last week of each month.
What if I need to cancel my lesson for the week?
As long as you call by noon of the lesson day if it is a week day, and 8am if on the weekend, a make-up lesson will be scheduled. No cash refunds or credits for missed lessons.
